10 Characteristics of Real Diamond Jewelry

Have you decided to get your own piece of diamond jewelry? Got a little tired of your usual Cubic Zirconia fashion jewelry that you decided to buy your own sparkling piece of jewelry?
diamond ring
But before you enjoy your diamonds, make sure that you have a real one at hand. It can be pretty hard to tell a real diamond from a fake one. Even if you've got an untrained eye, here are some ways you can tell if you have a real diamond.

Everything You Need to Know About Diamonds

1. Hard – diamonds are the hardest metals on earth. If your piece breaks at the slight drop on cement, then you’re definitely harboring a fake one. Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it, otherwise, finding out that you have a fake one can be totally devastating.

2. Different colors – the rarest diamonds are colored pink, yellow or blue. If the jeweler says that your piece is rare but not in those colors, you might want to ask for their explanation.

3. It can scratch anything – since diamonds are the hardest metals on earth, this also means that it can scratch just about anything. Test it on a piece of glass, if it makes a scratch and does not break, then you might just have a real piece at hand.

4. Does not have clear perception – if you have a real diamond, then there’s a possibility that you won’t be able to see through it. Fake diamonds are made out of glass so if you put the diamond over a printed piece of paper, you can see the letters clearly. On the other hand, a real diamond will break off any reflection from the prints.

5. Shades of gray – a real diamond can only portray reflections with gray shades. But if you’re holding a fake diamond, the reflections that come off it will be colorful.

6. Cleared fog – try breathing on your diamond. If you end up seeing the fog on your diamond, then it’s probably fake. A real diamond would've dispersed the fog even before you turned to look at it.

7. Reflection of light – a real diamond can reflect light no matter which side you test the light on. If one of the sides of your diamonds seems to deflect any shine, then you probably have a fake diamond.

8. Cannot be heated – a real diamond disperses heat as quickly as it does to fog. Try heating up your diamond for about 30 seconds. If the diamond remains hot, then it’s fake. A real diamond will not heat up nor will you feel it hot.

9. Scratches – although it’s pretty rare to find a perfect diamond, a real one would not have as many scratches inside as it does for fake diamonds. Real diamonds cannot be easily scratches so it’s rare that you find a diamond with too many scratches or scuffles.

10. Joints – when you do your tests, make sure that you test all sides. Sometimes, sellers connect real diamonds to fake diamonds at the bottom. To find out, throw your diamond in a glass of water. If it floats, then your diamond is either fake or it has been connected to a fake diamond. So, do you have the real deal? Or did you just get scammed out of your jewelry?

The Coolest Fashion Jewelry Ever! Inspired by Miley Cyrus

Famous. Bold. Daring. Stylish. These are just 4 words to describe the newly engaged former Disney star. Pretty far from her squeaky clean image back in the days, Miley Cyrus has definitely stirred herself from the young, Disney star she used to portray. Whether her controversy came from weird poses in pictures, questionable activities, “WTF is she wearing” moments and who she’s kissing at the moment, she is definitely one who just cannot shy away from getting attention to herself.

While she may have a few negative issues, she is definitely one with a bold, daring and stylish fashion sense. And it may be one of the reasons why she’s still famous at all. Besides her adorable, daring fashion style recently, she also sports some of the best fashion jewelry among young Hollywood stars of today.

Layered Necklaces
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Engaged

Remember what we said about getting the attention of everyone around her? Well, she definitely has the talent for it. This is what layered necklaces are for – getting attention. While she also has the talent of putting together a stylish outfit just enough to top it off with a layered necklace, you also have to admit she does it well enough to catch just the right attention from the fashion police. And you really can’t blame her for sporting those layered necklaces. They really are an incredible set of accessories for her outfit.
Cocktail Rings

cubic zirconia rings

Just like every other girl in the world, rings kind of matter – even if they are not meant to mean anything as important as an engagement ring. When it comes to fashion, however, it’s important that you wear only the accessories that will emphasize or highlight the outfit you wear, even if it only takes up a portion of your finger.

This is why cocktail rings matter a lot. Cocktail rings are not as big or expensive as Miley Cyrus’ engagement may have been, but this special ring definitely looks like it cost her a few hundred bucks. Of course. We don’t expect anything less from this former Disney star. With tiny crystals surrounding the set of nature stones, she is definitely bound to attract a lot of attention.

Multiple Bangles

Just like her bundle of layered necklaces, Miley Cyrus also has a penchant for wearing multiple bangles or bracelets. Did you know that wearing multiple bangles has a few rules to ensure that it will look well? The colors shouldn't clash with each other. And they shouldn’t over-shine the outfit you’re wearing. Former Disney queen and fiancé of The Hunger Games Liam Hemsworth seems to have this trick mastered. In fact, she really knows how to put together her bracelets whenever she goes out into the red carpet. Check out this set of bracelets that she wore with her blue, shiny dress. Hot or not? We vote hot. Because despite the fact that she wears several colors in her set of bracelets, her dress still manages to complete her look. Her accessories are just there to make it look even more stylish.

Craving for Nicki Minaj

Who’d have thought that someone can actually over-throne Lady Gaga when it comes to the outrageous fashion department, right? Lady Gaga is the Queen of Weird. But Nicki Minaj is definitely something weird, maybe even more. While only few people would be as bold as she is to try different things, here’s for everyone inspired by Minaj’s boldness in fashion and jewelry.
Nicki Minaj

Have you ever wondered what Nicki Minaj would be without her songs and superstar status? Maybe a weirdo in high school? The coolest girl in town? Because this girl definitely has a lot of guts. To go out there and look like cotton candy is pretty embarrassing. But if you have the strength to actually do it and still look like the superstar that you are, then you’re definitely Nicki Minaj. In this outfit, she rocks pink “Simpsons-like” hair, pink blouse, colorful fashion jewelry and silver bling-bling attached to what looks like a cat. Hot mess? Definitely. She may not look elegant or sophisticated, but Nicki Minaj is one true superstar.

Nicki Minaj

At first look, you won’t even know what she’s dressed as. But does it really matter? In this outfit/costume, Nicki Minaj outshines everyone in a pink and yellow headgear or wig. Although we can’t technically describe her outfit, she accessorizes her costume with some colorful bracelets, necklaces and a mouth-piece. The costume wasn’t anywhere near sophisticated, but her abstract costume was kind of artsy and fun to look at. If only we can pretend that she wasn’t actually wearing the outfit to an MTV music awards event, maybe we can appreciate the costume more.

Pink Friday

There’s just something about colors, abstract designs and Nicki Minaj. When you put them together, they make one heck of a superstar. And an impression. In this wildly put together outfit that involves a pink and blue midriff top, a grey tutu, colorful leggings and some bright blue suspenders, Minaj is yet again, overly fashionable for the Prabal Gurung show during the Mercedes Benz fashion week. Accessorizing her outfit with a set of bright blue, red and pink bracelets on each wrist, a huge pink knotted necklace and a cute tote bag, Minaj was definitely the apple of fashion police’s eye that night. They may not approve of Nicki Minaj’s outfit, but we do have to say props for her cute knot necklace. From afar, it looks like some kind of meat. But up close, it looks pretty decent, if only worn with fewer colors, of course.

nicki minaj fashion

Is there anything more adorable than this outfit? We doubt it. While no, it doesn’t meet the standards of fashion gurus, it does resemble something really adorable. The outfit consisted of a bright yellow corset, paired with heart designed tutu-leggings (that looks as if it just came out of a cartoon series) and black and white gloves. Her hair was light pink with tiny curls and her accessories consisted of uber-cute, colorful gemstones in large, bright colors. Sometimes, her outfits are an eyesore. But this is actually pretty amusing.

Hayden Panettiere: Tween Fashion No More

When it comes to young adult fashion, people always think of Disney stars like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus. However, someone NOT from Disney is definitely making waves in fashion for young adults. Hayden Panettiere, who was first known as the cheerleader from the superhero-thriller series, Heroes, is one gorgeous young lady to look up to. Despite her not-so-thriving career as an actress, she is making a big come back as the young pop star, alongside Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) in the new series Nashville.

And because the series is hitting positive rates with its viewers, let’s take a look at some of her best outfits and fashion jewelry.
Hayden Panettiere: Tween Fashion No More

In this outfit, Hayden Panettiere is simple, but casual in a white low-cut v-neck and jeans. She styles her outfit with a big, brown belt and a set of long brown chains to make her outfit appear casual, but pretty elegant. Trivia? This chain is actually from her own collection called Chain Gang. The chain is hand-made from clay beads and stones and turtle and gorilla skull charms. Her collection may not be ready for the masses, just yet, but they are definitely something to look out for. According to Hayden, her collection is part feminine and punky as well.

choker necklace as a fashion jewelry

Only a few young adults can carry off gemstone chokers, with matching crystal dangling earrings on the red carpet. Sometimes, they really have to pull off the right outfit to make the accessories work. Hayden Panettiere wears a low-cut dress to give way for her choker to highlight her neck area. She wears her hair down, however, making her face and head area look a little too crowded. If only she had styled her hair up.

celebrity red lips

Only few people can pull off a bright red lips at the right time. This blonde bombshell can really wear her best on the red carpet. In this outfit Hayden Panettiere wore at the Elton John AIDS Foundation, she paired her gorgeous white dress with red lips and rose cut diamond earrings. Because Panettiere wore her hair up, keeping her face clean and clear, her earrings, dress and lips make quite a statement on the red carpet. At least, besides her teen and casual style, she can also pull off the elegant and sophisticated look.

Golden Globe Awards

Want more proof that Ms. Panettiere is more than just the casual dresser? In the Golden Globe Awards of 2009, young Panettiere wore this off shoulder, violet Gianfranco Ferre gown, looking neat and gorgeous with her hair swept to one side and completely accessory free, except for the beautiful crystal Fred Leighton earrings that added spice to her dress. The dress is very appropriate for her age and she looked sophisticated, especially for the event.

Young and fresh. This is how Hayden looks like in this picture. Just like Neutrogena advertises. Hayden Panettiere looks refreshed and beautiful in this multi-colored blouse and white pants, accessorized with a blue ring and necklace to complete the outfit. In this event, Hayden is fun, young and stylish.

What do you think of Hayden’s style? Too preppy or elegant and chic? Maybe Emma Watson's style suits your taste better. Why not check out her transformation from Hermione to Sam of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower: Sam's Fashion

Have you watched the newest blockbuster for this Fall? If you haven’t, then you’re missing out on a lot of life lessons that you shouldn’t miss. And if you have, then you’re probably one of those who fell for Emma Watson’s character Sam, the free-spirited girl who was once upon a time at rock bottom of her life. She and her brother Patrick showed Charlie the tunnel, thus giving him a chance to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Great movie? Possibly the best for this year. Fashion? Let’s see Sam’s best looks in the movie.
Emma Watson Sam Perks Wall flower

Sam wears a jersey jacket with a checkered top inside. But it’s not her actual clothes that make her outfit – it’s how preppy and student-y she looks. Her black headband is appropriate for her outfit and the dangling star earrings were enough to make Emma Watson’s usual elegant look appear casual and high school-ish.

Sam Fashion

Obviously, Sam’s style is very different from Emma Watson herself. If Emma is more sophisticated and elegant, Sam is carefree, a little preppy and hip at most times. At the dance, Sam opts for a preppy look wearing a long-sleeved, off shoulder black dress over black stockings. She highlights her dark outfit with a simple, gold fashion jewelry on her neck. Pretty classy, yet preppy for Sam. Her hair is also held back, allowing her off-shoulder dress to showcase her slim shoulders.

emma watson

This is probably Sam’s best look in the whole movie. Wearing a maroon tube dress and a short-sleeved overcoat, Sam was probably the apple of everyone’s eye (Charlie’s anyway) during this scene. As she stood up at the back of the truck to await the light at the end of the tunnel, Sam looked at Charlie and they both shared a moment. Was it the moment? Or how gorgeous Sam looked in her simple dress and necklace?

The Perks in Being a Wallflower Fashion

At a party, Sam wears this very hip dress, paired with her signature simple necklace. Her hair is pulled back and the red color of her dress fits perfect with her fair skin. She finishes her look with skin toned, Mary Jane high heels. Although Sam looks beautiful in this simple outfit, this is definitely a far cry from Emma Watson’s style. At least she didn’t have blind-cut hair style like Mary Elizabeth, right?

Sexy Emma Watson

Preppy and hip, right? Still a pretty fashionable outfit, Sam channels a bit of Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf in this scene. She dons a round neck knitted, sleeveless top, tucked into a preppy checkered red skirt over black stockings. Sam accessorizes her outfit with a black bangle over her right arm. This is one of Sam’s best looks in the movie. Despite the fact that she was obviously not wearing support under her top, Emma Watson was able to pull off the fashionable, preppy almost-college look pretty well.

Gone are the days when Emma Watson was just the girl in Harry Potter. With her acting capabilities, she was able to pull herself away from her Hermoine Granger image.

Celebrities With Their Own Jewelry Line

Just because a celebrity is a celebrity now doesn’t mean they will be making millions of dollars every year from then on. In fact, every celebrity has their own “expiry date” or at least the day when producers won’t be asking them to make movies anymore. So instead of relying on savings, several celebrities decide to use their fame to release their own business – or most commonly, their own jewelry line. Several of today’s most famous, talented actresses have their own jewelry lines and stores to ensure that even after many years, they’d still be making money. Here are some of the smartest, talented women of today’s Hollywood:
angelina jolie jewelry

Angelina Jolie

Who wouldn’t buy a piece of jewelry designed with the beautiful actress as an inspiration right? Just bearing the name Jolie is like saying the piece of jewelry is worth millions – okay, so it probably is, anyway. After recently releasing her line with designer Robert Procop, surely many people would love to wear one of her pieces. For those who want to sell her items would also have to think of an elegant jewelry display to match the name too.
paris hilton watch

Paris Hilton

Although I’m not sure if we can call her an actress, but this heiress is one smart businesswoman. With a lot of businesses on the side, this pretty lady also has a jewelry line of her own. Ms. Hilton designs a wide variety of jewelry pieces that even includes Swarovski crystals. Even if she doesn’t hold any Grammy awards nor has starred in any internationally claimed movie, there’s no one in high society who would think twice about wearing her pieces.

kate hudson

Kate Hudson

Once upon a time, she was like today’s Kristen Stewart – minus the cheating, of course. But today, Kate Hudson shouldn’t be looked over, especially when it comes to business. Still as gorgeous as before, only with less movie offers unfortunately, Ms. Hudson produces Chrome Hearts (CH+KH), her own jewelry line that focuses mainly on Aquamarine pieces, diamonds and freshwater pearls. Now that sounds like an expensive, but very intriguing line.

nicole richie

Nicole Richie

Not to be outdone by her former frenemy, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie also has something to offer when it comes to jewelry. As the creator of House of Harlow, her jewelry pieces consist mostly of pyramid cocktail rings, stud earrings, pendant necklaces, bangles and much, much more. Unlike her frenemy, Richie hasn’t been in the movie industry as much. Instead, the famous socialite is known mostly for her non-friendship with Paris Hilton, her partying, her smart business ventures and of course, as the daughter of Lionel Richie.

Besides talent, celebrities also have to think of their future. Otherwise, they might just end up on the wrong side of their life – all over again. Oh by the way, you might want to check Vintage Fashion Jewelry.

How to Choose the Type of Jewelry Display for your Booth

Whenever I decide to sell at bazaars and set up my booth, I have to consider a lot of things. You see, when it comes to setting up booths at various sales and market displays, it’s not just the budget and the fancy market that I have to consider. Sometimes, during these events, it’s all about the type of jewelry and the attractive jewelry display that I have to consider.
Crystal Liu Yifei
When I set up a booth, I make sure that they don’t look the same – even if the booths are in two different events. I like having to consider other factors in order to choose the type of display my jewelry would most likely stand out in.

First of all, I think the season is an important factor to consider in designing my theme for my jewelry. If I set up a booth during the summer, it will definitely look much different than the one I set up during winter. The colors I choose for my booth are also different, especially because summer colors are usually trendy and chic during the summer days, but when it comes to winter, simple and elegant colors are more in tune. Sometimes, even the jewelry I sell differs, according to the season.

For example, if it’s summer, I only choose jewelry displays that will help my summer-y jewelry stand out among the rest.

Summer Jewelry Trends at ChrisAndDianeDoDinner
Second, sale fairs happen in various locations around town. Sometimes, I even cross county just to sell at another town. In this case, I always consider the weather and my booth’s location. It’s definitely a wrong choice to set up a summer theme if the weather in the booth’s location is kind of rainy. Not only will my booth’s display look out of place, it may just defeat my purpose of standing out. If the weather is rainy, I want to give my customers a reason to wear the jewelry despite the rain. Thus, in these cases, I need to find a theme that will look nice for the weather and the booth’s location.

Third, the latest trends also affect the type of display for my jewelry. For example, now that the Dark Knight has been released, I might set up my gothic booth to look like a set from Dark Knight. Not only will my booth look interesting with its jewelry, I might also be able to attract Dark Knight Fans.

What about you? How do you choose the type of jewelry display for your booths?

Summer 2012 Trends-Beach, Party, Fashion

Summer 2012 Trends|Beach

It's summer, that warm breeze, the oceans water sparkling, showing the reflection of a bright and sunny sky. People are everywhere, you'll see kids making sand castles, different couples walking hand by hand on that white sand beaches, while some are trying to get a nice tan. Whew what a relaxing feeling.

Hmm, but i wonder if you are ready for the beach? Have you seen the latest fashion trends for a beach vacation? Well, fret not because I am here to give you a sneak peak of what Summer 2012 Trends are going to offer.

Well, let's start with your attire. Of course its a beach so you badly need a swim suit. You don't need to spend much with this as the Swimsuit Trends for 2012's Summer is going back the 80's, yep, frills, polka dots, retro styles and prints.

Swimsuit 2012 Trends|Printed Boy Leg Style

If you are going to stroll around, a nice printed bikini is a great option, or a boy leg style one, perhaps all you need is to have a wrap around summer dress, a sarong or better yet a nice fashion jewelry to accentuate your getup.

Swimwear 2012 Trends|High Waist

If you are not comfortable strongly around in your bikinis, a nice flowing sundress is a very very nice idea, I usually wear my swim wear underneath just in case I decided to take a dip.

Summer Trends 2012| Sundress

Another option is a short summer dress. Although if its a night out, i highly recommend using the longer type of summer dress or better yet, just bring a shawl, yes its summer but the breeze at night is still cold.

Summer Trends 2012| Mini Sundress

Hope you like it. A piece of advice, whatever you wear is not important, whats more important is how you can handle the clothes you are wearing, it doesn't necessarily mean that because there is a new trend you need to go buy when you can just add some spice to your old clothes or wear some pieces of your fashion jewelry, be confident because you are you.

2012 Spring Fashion Week Rally

On the recently concluded Spring Fashion Week Rally, top names in the fashion industry released their Spring Collection and boy what a storm or great clothes, fashion jewelry, shoes and bags.

Here are some of my favorite designers and their entry on the fashion week.

First is Ralph Lauren. I so love his collection. Soft, elegant cuts in silk fabrics, flowing and very feminine. And the colors are just so spring time and girlish,  pantone shades, white, skin tone, pink and green. Feather scarfs, intricately sewn bead designs, and elegant fashion jewelry what more can a girl ask for.

Then there is this classic, retro, silhouette like dresses by Calvin Klein. I am so proud to be a girl just by looking at his designs. He opted for the classic skin tone and black then exhibit it in lace and uses soft fabrics that almost hugs who ever wears them, showing the perfect contour of a lady. And the shoes are to die for.

And if Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren showcased a very feminine designs, Marc Jacobs opted to add some spice to his also feminine but in a more spiky, outgoing way. Not to mention setting a new trend of wearing socks under a pointed toe sky high heels.

Marc Jacobs added some shine, fuzz and sheer with his metallic green and plastic like fabrics. A sheer, fray, lacquered skirts and sporty bags.

Now tell me, isn't being a girl a really lovely feeling :D
