Find The Perfect Drugstore Makeup

Take it from Lady Gaga, we are all born superstars. The only difference is that some of us get paid for it while others have to pull of smart shopping strategies to make that shine through. This Christmas, I’m going to help you with one of the important aspects of bringing out the superstar in you – and that has something to do with putting on makeup. (Well, okay it can be about walking wedge boots as well)
Find The Perfect Drugstore Makeup

I know that natural beauty will always be the best. But for days when you just need a little help with conceal those under eye circles from that light night shindig with your friends, you never have to spend hundreds of dollars for that unless you’re a millionaire.

Here are 3 things that you SHOULD know when buying makeup items from the drugstore.

Try different brands. One great thing about shopping at drugstores is that they offer a wide selection of eye makeup, lipsticks and mascaras to name a few. These retail stores carry a number of affordable brands that offers different types of products that carry their own distinct features.

Finding the perfect makeup for your skin type is like finding the perfect leather boots during the somewhere – it’s difficult and it might seem that you’re going nowhere but your time and effort would surely pay off. As they say in fairy tales, you have to kiss a couple of frogs before you find your prince charming.

If you’re still looking for a brand or a particular product that will treat your skin well, here are 3 simple things that you can do to find the best one for you:
  1. Take a shade of lipstick in two different hues. Always remember that there are tons of variations of a single color. Both of them might seem like the same color but bloody red is different from burgundy. And if you’d like to find the shade that suits you better, get two affordable lipsticks from the drugstore which you can put to the test.
  2. Bring a good item that you currently. This tip works best if you’re looking for a foundation that would match your skin’s shade and condition. If you already found one that’s working for you but it’s from a high-end brand, you just have to compare it with the one’s offered in drugstores. More often than not, you can find an affordable with the same features if you just look really good.
  3. Read product reviews online. Not all drugstores offer testers that you can tinker upon to check a product. To make sure that you’re getting the right one without actually trying it, take your search online and find out what other users are saying about a particular brand or product. Keep in mind that there could be biased reviews online so having a good judgment is also a must.
Look for deals before settling to buy. The Christmas season is a great time to go shopping for anything – including cosmetic products. Brands are pretty generous this time of the year with price reductions and freebies. Take advantage of the numerous sale events that take place before and after Christmas to beef up your makeup kit in time for next year.

Make a “save and splurge” list for your makeup. This trick has really saved much of my makeup budget. My savings from doing this for about a year has allowed me to get a swanky pair of sneaker boots just last month so I’m really recommending this.

Creating a “save and splurge” list is rather simple. The first thing that you have to do is list down your makeup staples. Then beside the item you can write the words save or splurge depending on how you intend to buy the product. For example, I’d write save beside mascara. This means that I’m okay with purchasing mascara from drugstore brands. If you tag one item as splurge, it means that it’s one of your non-negotiable items and you’d rather purchase them from high-end brands for any reason you might have.

3 Simple Holiday Fashion Tips for the Busy and Hardworking Mom

When was the last time you wore high heels to a Christmas gathering? If you can’t remember, then you might have been on the mommy route for quite a while. Don’t get me wrong, being a mom is one of the most wonderful things in life. But the changes that it brings are a reality as well.
christmas fashion

For the upcoming holidays, I’m making it my personal mission to help as many moms bring to life the stunning look they so deserve even if they’re just planning to wear a pair of well-made Bamboo shoes. I personally like wearing Penny Loafers.

Below, I have 3 Christmas fashion tips for every hard working mom out there. These guidelines aim to help you get an awesome time just in time for those sweet little kisses from your kids under the mistletoe. Feel free to share these with your friends so that we can all have a fashionable Christmas this year.

Hot Mama Holiday Fashion Tip # 1 Fit is in. Whoever started the loose fitting clothes fad for moms must be hanged. Kidding aside, it has always been so weird for me to see my figure-flaunting friends choose sweatpants and over-sized shirts when they start having children. They say their new style is comfortable – I say it’s hideous.

When dressing for your updated figure, it really helps to go back to basics. Here are 3 simple guidelines that you should remember when updating your post-pregnancy style:
  1. Get familiar with your new figure. Going a couple of sizes up could be depressing but mopping around wouldn’t get your teenage body shape back. You have to proactively handle the situation by being rational. Ask yourself: How did my body change? From there, you get a better idea on which parts of your figure you should highlight and which ones should be brought away from the spotlight.
  2. Find appropriate clothing. Aside from getting the right fit, you should also make sure that your new clothes fit your new status as a mom. Showing off too much skin may not be the best idea. Always remember that you can always look sexy when you know how to hit the right buttons.
  3. Stock up on classic. If there’s one fashion rule that you should remember for the rest of your life that should be: you can never go wrong with the classic style. With that said, get a new LBD that flatters your new figure. Don’t forget about the dress pants and the white tops as well that you can easily dress up with accessories and a fashionable pair of shoes.
Having kids and starting a family is never a reason to let go of yourself. I know for a fact that it’ll be busy but you should still find time for yourself – and that includes spending quality time for shopping clothes and shoes that suit your new figure well.

Hot Mama Holiday Fashion Tip # 2 Hair, Makeup and nails count. Most mothers play the role of a superhero in the lives of their families and children. Many of them juggle their work life together with their family life just so they can give the best to their families. It’s amazing! And I salute all moms – especially my mother. So this holiday season, don’t forget to update your hairstyle and your makeup simply because you deserve it for all the hard work.

Looking good and feeling good is a holistic thing. You have to take care of yourself from head to toe to create that sassy aura.

Hot Mama Holiday Fashion Tip # 3 Choose comfort over anything else. Need I say more? With your new life role, being able to do things comfortable could change a lot of things. Keep in mind that a comfy outfit matched with an equally comfortable pair of shoes can boost your confidence really. Simply put, being comfortable in your clothes helps you be comfortable in your skin.

Always remember this tip especially during the busy Christmas season. I’m pretty sure that you’d be going to a number of family gatherings with your children where they would run and play endlessly. To be ready for any mommy-action, make sure that you’re wearing a more comfortable outfit that could keep you going and going like your energetic child.

Cool Celebrations: How to Turn Your Thanksgiving Dinner into a Fabulous Fashion Theme Party

Celebrate this year’s Thanksgiving in style by hosting a fashion themed dinner. Get your wedge boots ready to walk talk and proud this coming holiday as you show your love and appreciation to the people who matter most in your life.
Cool Celebrations: How to Turn Your Thanksgiving Dinner into a Fabulous Fashion Theme Party

Today, I’m sharing with you tons of practical tips for a fabulous Thanksgiving. Read up on the useful tips below.

Choosing the Theme

Having a fashioned themed party can be exciting. But unlike going for a luau or a movie theme, fashion parties need you to be a little more specific which makes it even more fun. There are tons of sub-themes that you can choose from.

Two of the commonly used chic party themes are awards night and the fashion week. Both events are filled with glamour and they can surely lend this glitz to your Thanksgiving dinner. You could also go for unconventional ones like a Lady Gaga theme where guests can take a walk on the fashion wild side with their chunky wedge boots.

Keep in mind that when selecting a fashion theme, your top consideration should be your guests. It is best to take note of the age of the attendees so you can throw the party that everyone enjoyed.

Party Basics

This includes the event details and the invitations you’d be sending to spread the word out. To get the feel of a true fashion event, it is best that you reflect common practices in the industry. Awards night and fashion week after-parties always take place at night which makes them a perfect theme for your Thanksgiving dinner. Follow through with other practices like sending sleek VIP invitations to your guests. This would allow them to get a feel of your theme that would surely get them all excited.

Food and drinks

Give your guest the A-list treatment by getting their stomach’s fill in a sumptuous multi-course dinner. Serving a 5-course meal is easier than it seems. Just make sure to have an appetizer, salad, soup, main course and dessert ready at the dinner table to start the feast.

When serving an elaborate meal, remember that being creative pays off. There are tons of ways for you to get fresh ingredients, good tasting wine and turkey at more reasonable price. Using coupons and is a great way to save a couple of bucks. Don’t forget to hunt for deals way before the Thanksgiving time rolls in to make sure that you get ingredients in stock. Don’t forget to wear a pair of trusty boots when moving around to shop.

Another way to spend wisely on food during the holiday season is to have your guest bring in some of the food items especially if this is an intimate occasion between family and friends. Sharing the responsibility can surely lighten up your load.

Fun activities

Like what I said earlier, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars just to have a memorable fashion-themed Thanksgiving dinner. Instantly bring in the paparazzi to your party by assigning one of your guests as the official photographer and dress the part. Having him or her roam around the room and signal people to take their posses can surely create a celebrity feel.

You can also incorporate fashion show at the beginning of the party just to liven up the atmosphere. Towards the end, have an award giving ceremony to keep the spirit of Thanksgiving alive.

Are you celebrating your Thanksgiving in style? Let me know how you've been preparing to throw your Hollywood style party. Leave me a comment below or a link to your pictures of the fashion themed party. I’d love to know all about them so keep ‘em coming!

Yes, No! Celebrities in Purple Fashion

Purple is a pretty funky color to wear. Unfortunately, because the fun color is not easy to partner and match with the usual outfits, not everyone can wear it on an ordinary day. Even celebrities, who have all the money in the world, still make some awful red carpet mistakes with their purple fashion jewelry and outrageous matching outfits. On the other hand, there are also other celebrities who make it easy to wear purple.

To get ideas on how to wear purple the right way, here are a few inspirations from celebrities and why they worked or didn't work.
Victoria Beckam in purple

What works: There’s never really been a time when Victoria Beckham wore something that didn't look good. And despite the fact that she’s changed styles so much in the past few years, we still cannot dismiss this purple and silver outfit she wore a few years back. Compared to her style today, this is definitely a downgrade. However, the outfit still made her look chic, with only one purple Swarovski ring and a matching purple handbag. The heavy cleavage may be a little too much. Despite that, the former Spice Girl still rocked the look. Cheap? Never. It just made Victoria Beckham look many years younger than she truly is.
purple coat

What doesn't work: Well, where should we begin? Maybe it’s the fact that her dark red lipstick really doesn't match the purple dress. Maybe it’s because her dark coat doesn't do anything for her dark, purple dress. Or the fact that her neck is just brimming with accessories. Really, you should never overwhelm your neck with too many accessories. The dress already had sheer detailing around the neck and because she decided to wear two more necklaces, it only made her look dowdy and overcrowded. The same goes for her earrings. Because she had too many accessories on her neck, the earrings aren't even noticeable anymore. One word for this outfit? Crowded.
Natalie Portman

What works: Just like Mrs. Beckham, there’s never really a time when Natalie Portman looked bad. In fact, she just keeps on looking better and better every day. In this outfit where she wore a glorious purple gown with an appropriate cleavage, Portman was simply stunning. Not only that, she accentuated her outfit with a matching purple fringe earring set that highlighted her upper body even more. Because she chose to keep it simple in a long dress and a side-swept hairstyle with minimum fashion jewelry, Portman ended up looking classy and sophisticated.

What doesn't work: Despite the fact that Fergie definitely looks beautiful in this picture, it seemed as if the light purple color of her dress just wasn't complimenting the shades of her skin. When you choose the dress to wear to an event, you also have to consider the specific shade of your dress, otherwise, you end up looking a little too tan. Do be careful in choosing a dress to display your cleavage though, you wouldn't want people to think that your dress is too tight.

Celebrity Inspired Holiday Fashion

No matter what occasion it may be, I’m sure you’ll still find many reasons to go after a celebrity’s stylish look. After all, they are the trendsetter’s of our generations. Now while Labor Day can be pretty depressing signaling the official end of summer, it doesn't mean that everyone will stop feeling the summer heat. So, in light of this special occasion, let’s see what celebrities don on this special day. Are they wearing white? Maybe some patriotic fashion jewelry? Check out and see if these stars look hot or not after Labor Day.

Heidi Klum – Formal
Heidi Klum

So technically, the tradition is to wear white after Labor Day. But I’m guessing there are some who break this rule from time to time. Now if you’re one of the unfortunate to have work on the last day of summer (can you spell bummer?), this is a good outfit to wear. Wear a white, fun jumpsuit with a very classy cleavage and a chic coat to cover up and confirm your formal wear. Spice up your outfit with a pair of blazing red high heels and you’re ready to go. I do think that Heidi could’ve used some hoop earrings or maybe a necklace. Without accessories, her catchy red shoes overshadowed her coat and plunging neckline.

Taylor Swift - Casual
Taylor Swift

Everyone’s favorite country singer went out last year wearing this blue sundress on Labor Day. A little too 4th of July? Of course not! Even if 4th of July is definitely a day for patriotism, it doesn’t mean that Labor Day doesn’t deserve the same treatment. In fact, this dress is perfect for the end of summer – catching up to the last rays of the season, enjoying a little sunlight. Fun and girly – two words which pretty much explains Taylor Swift’s whole wardrobe. Not that we’re complaining. She does have pretty classy sense of style. Especially now that she’s dating someone from a very important family in the US (ehem, Conor Kennedy).

Kristen Stewart – Summer Casual

Kristen Stewart

Okay. So, there’s a lot of things wrong in what’s she’s wearing here. But when she wore this, let’s just say she probably didn't have a stylist yet. I included this in my list because it’s a pretty good combination of laid back and summer style. Her white midriff shirt is very summer-y, although I do recommend a good (possibly black colored) necklace to accessorize her plain top. Her bracelet is also definitely pretty and elegant. Her pants are laid back and her shoes are pretty much as summer-y as a pair of shoes can get. But really? Her best fashion accessory in this picture – she’s actually smiling!

Rihanna – Summer

Rhianna

Nothing like a sexy, white swimsuit to finish off your summer, right? That’s right, Rihanna! You go, girl! Our favorite pop singer looks happy in this sexy, white swimsuit. Her chains? Excellent addition to her swimwear. Her earrings? Great addition. If there’s someone who knows how to end a season, it’s definitely one of our best party gals.

Guide to Choosing Necklaces for Different Outfits

Going on a hunt to buy different types of necklaces? Ready to make your debut with a new outfit? There’s definitely no better way to finish your look than with the right accessories. In order to avoid stepping out with the right outfit and the mismatched jewelry, here are some pointers to help you put together the perfect outfit.
Katherine Heigl

Beaded Necklaces

The thing with beaded necklaces is that they are quite noticeable whenever you wear them. Because of the beads, you can easily create a design just by wearing this accessory over a plain outfit. The best time to wear beaded necklaces is if you want to spice up a plain shirt or blouse. Wear a beaded necklace over a white round neck. No matter how simple your round neck looks, a beaded necklace will always succeed in making it look elegantly fashionable. On the other hand, if you’re more into the boho-chic look, you can always choose to downplay your outfit. Wear a simple tank top with a long, flowing skirt. Finish off the outfit with a necklace with smaller beads. This way, your necklace only emphasizes your boho-look, but it won’t outshine your whole outfit.

Pearl Necklaces

Necklaces made out of pearls are pretty precious to wear to any casual event. Instead, use this elegant fashion jewelry for formal events. If you’re wearing a low-cut dress, accentuate with a pearl necklace. Just make sure that your dress doesn’t have any detailed designs on the chest area so that it doesn’t fight for attention with your pearls. The reason your pearls are there is to add detail and elegancy to your formal outfit. White pearl necklaces are best worn with dark colored dresses or outfits.

Long Chains

Now onto the more casual side of wearing necklaces. Once upon a time, men were the only ones who wore necklaces with long chains and extravagant pendants. Today, even women take interest in those kinds of necklaces, especially when they’re attempting to downplay their casual outfit. Long chains with big pendants are best worn when you’re wearing your best jeans. Whether it may be pants, jean shorts or even jump shorts, long chains are your best bet at accessorizing the outfit. Keep your top simple, though, nothing too fancy or you’ll beat the purpose of wearing long chains.

If you’re open to wearing see-through blouses, these are also perfect to match with jean shorts and a long chained necklace. Be careful on the chains you buy, however. You don’t want them staining your best white blouse.
silver necklace selena gomez

Silver necklaces Long chains give an outfit a rather casual, casual look. But if you’re aiming to sophisticate your casual look, then silver necklaces will definitely work. Unlike long chains that will reach up to your stomach, depending on its maximum length, traditional silver necklaces are meant to lie just above your chest, enough to make a perfect V-neck look sophisticated and chic, even with jean shorts.

Remember though, fashion isn’t about having many stylish accessories. It’s in how you handle your outfit and accessories – no matter how many pieces you’re actually wearing.

Craving for Nicki Minaj

Who’d have thought that someone can actually over-throne Lady Gaga when it comes to the outrageous fashion department, right? Lady Gaga is the Queen of Weird. But Nicki Minaj is definitely something weird, maybe even more. While only few people would be as bold as she is to try different things, here’s for everyone inspired by Minaj’s boldness in fashion and jewelry.
Nicki Minaj

Have you ever wondered what Nicki Minaj would be without her songs and superstar status? Maybe a weirdo in high school? The coolest girl in town? Because this girl definitely has a lot of guts. To go out there and look like cotton candy is pretty embarrassing. But if you have the strength to actually do it and still look like the superstar that you are, then you’re definitely Nicki Minaj. In this outfit, she rocks pink “Simpsons-like” hair, pink blouse, colorful fashion jewelry and silver bling-bling attached to what looks like a cat. Hot mess? Definitely. She may not look elegant or sophisticated, but Nicki Minaj is one true superstar.

Nicki Minaj

At first look, you won’t even know what she’s dressed as. But does it really matter? In this outfit/costume, Nicki Minaj outshines everyone in a pink and yellow headgear or wig. Although we can’t technically describe her outfit, she accessorizes her costume with some colorful bracelets, necklaces and a mouth-piece. The costume wasn’t anywhere near sophisticated, but her abstract costume was kind of artsy and fun to look at. If only we can pretend that she wasn’t actually wearing the outfit to an MTV music awards event, maybe we can appreciate the costume more.

Pink Friday

There’s just something about colors, abstract designs and Nicki Minaj. When you put them together, they make one heck of a superstar. And an impression. In this wildly put together outfit that involves a pink and blue midriff top, a grey tutu, colorful leggings and some bright blue suspenders, Minaj is yet again, overly fashionable for the Prabal Gurung show during the Mercedes Benz fashion week. Accessorizing her outfit with a set of bright blue, red and pink bracelets on each wrist, a huge pink knotted necklace and a cute tote bag, Minaj was definitely the apple of fashion police’s eye that night. They may not approve of Nicki Minaj’s outfit, but we do have to say props for her cute knot necklace. From afar, it looks like some kind of meat. But up close, it looks pretty decent, if only worn with fewer colors, of course.

nicki minaj fashion

Is there anything more adorable than this outfit? We doubt it. While no, it doesn’t meet the standards of fashion gurus, it does resemble something really adorable. The outfit consisted of a bright yellow corset, paired with heart designed tutu-leggings (that looks as if it just came out of a cartoon series) and black and white gloves. Her hair was light pink with tiny curls and her accessories consisted of uber-cute, colorful gemstones in large, bright colors. Sometimes, her outfits are an eyesore. But this is actually pretty amusing.

Hayden Panettiere: Tween Fashion No More

When it comes to young adult fashion, people always think of Disney stars like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus. However, someone NOT from Disney is definitely making waves in fashion for young adults. Hayden Panettiere, who was first known as the cheerleader from the superhero-thriller series, Heroes, is one gorgeous young lady to look up to. Despite her not-so-thriving career as an actress, she is making a big come back as the young pop star, alongside Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) in the new series Nashville.

And because the series is hitting positive rates with its viewers, let’s take a look at some of her best outfits and fashion jewelry.
Hayden Panettiere: Tween Fashion No More

In this outfit, Hayden Panettiere is simple, but casual in a white low-cut v-neck and jeans. She styles her outfit with a big, brown belt and a set of long brown chains to make her outfit appear casual, but pretty elegant. Trivia? This chain is actually from her own collection called Chain Gang. The chain is hand-made from clay beads and stones and turtle and gorilla skull charms. Her collection may not be ready for the masses, just yet, but they are definitely something to look out for. According to Hayden, her collection is part feminine and punky as well.

choker necklace as a fashion jewelry

Only a few young adults can carry off gemstone chokers, with matching crystal dangling earrings on the red carpet. Sometimes, they really have to pull off the right outfit to make the accessories work. Hayden Panettiere wears a low-cut dress to give way for her choker to highlight her neck area. She wears her hair down, however, making her face and head area look a little too crowded. If only she had styled her hair up.

celebrity red lips

Only few people can pull off a bright red lips at the right time. This blonde bombshell can really wear her best on the red carpet. In this outfit Hayden Panettiere wore at the Elton John AIDS Foundation, she paired her gorgeous white dress with red lips and rose cut diamond earrings. Because Panettiere wore her hair up, keeping her face clean and clear, her earrings, dress and lips make quite a statement on the red carpet. At least, besides her teen and casual style, she can also pull off the elegant and sophisticated look.

Golden Globe Awards

Want more proof that Ms. Panettiere is more than just the casual dresser? In the Golden Globe Awards of 2009, young Panettiere wore this off shoulder, violet Gianfranco Ferre gown, looking neat and gorgeous with her hair swept to one side and completely accessory free, except for the beautiful crystal Fred Leighton earrings that added spice to her dress. The dress is very appropriate for her age and she looked sophisticated, especially for the event.

Young and fresh. This is how Hayden looks like in this picture. Just like Neutrogena advertises. Hayden Panettiere looks refreshed and beautiful in this multi-colored blouse and white pants, accessorized with a blue ring and necklace to complete the outfit. In this event, Hayden is fun, young and stylish.

What do you think of Hayden’s style? Too preppy or elegant and chic? Maybe Emma Watson's style suits your taste better. Why not check out her transformation from Hermione to Sam of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower: Sam's Fashion

Have you watched the newest blockbuster for this Fall? If you haven’t, then you’re missing out on a lot of life lessons that you shouldn’t miss. And if you have, then you’re probably one of those who fell for Emma Watson’s character Sam, the free-spirited girl who was once upon a time at rock bottom of her life. She and her brother Patrick showed Charlie the tunnel, thus giving him a chance to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Great movie? Possibly the best for this year. Fashion? Let’s see Sam’s best looks in the movie.
Emma Watson Sam Perks Wall flower

Sam wears a jersey jacket with a checkered top inside. But it’s not her actual clothes that make her outfit – it’s how preppy and student-y she looks. Her black headband is appropriate for her outfit and the dangling star earrings were enough to make Emma Watson’s usual elegant look appear casual and high school-ish.

Sam Fashion

Obviously, Sam’s style is very different from Emma Watson herself. If Emma is more sophisticated and elegant, Sam is carefree, a little preppy and hip at most times. At the dance, Sam opts for a preppy look wearing a long-sleeved, off shoulder black dress over black stockings. She highlights her dark outfit with a simple, gold fashion jewelry on her neck. Pretty classy, yet preppy for Sam. Her hair is also held back, allowing her off-shoulder dress to showcase her slim shoulders.

emma watson

This is probably Sam’s best look in the whole movie. Wearing a maroon tube dress and a short-sleeved overcoat, Sam was probably the apple of everyone’s eye (Charlie’s anyway) during this scene. As she stood up at the back of the truck to await the light at the end of the tunnel, Sam looked at Charlie and they both shared a moment. Was it the moment? Or how gorgeous Sam looked in her simple dress and necklace?

The Perks in Being a Wallflower Fashion

At a party, Sam wears this very hip dress, paired with her signature simple necklace. Her hair is pulled back and the red color of her dress fits perfect with her fair skin. She finishes her look with skin toned, Mary Jane high heels. Although Sam looks beautiful in this simple outfit, this is definitely a far cry from Emma Watson’s style. At least she didn’t have blind-cut hair style like Mary Elizabeth, right?

Sexy Emma Watson

Preppy and hip, right? Still a pretty fashionable outfit, Sam channels a bit of Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf in this scene. She dons a round neck knitted, sleeveless top, tucked into a preppy checkered red skirt over black stockings. Sam accessorizes her outfit with a black bangle over her right arm. This is one of Sam’s best looks in the movie. Despite the fact that she was obviously not wearing support under her top, Emma Watson was able to pull off the fashionable, preppy almost-college look pretty well.

Gone are the days when Emma Watson was just the girl in Harry Potter. With her acting capabilities, she was able to pull herself away from her Hermoine Granger image.

Rachel Schwartzmann: Keep it Simply Outstanding

Ankle boots are great for making statements. But what if you want to dress down just this one time? Rachel, a fashion blogger and true style star, teaches us how to rock the Fashion Week in an all white ensemble and still stand out.
ankle boots

To know a little more about her, Rachel Schwartzmann is a true California babe. Though she’s been based in the Big Apple for the past 9 years, she never fails to look back at the places that played important roles in her life like San Francisco and Texas.

Currently, Rachel majors in Advertising and Marketing Communications at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She juggles her responsibilities in school with being a Fashion Insider for the LookLab website.

Rachel Schwartzmann

Fashion writing is also one of her passions. Rachel contributes regularly to The Huffington Post and updates her blogs which are The Style Line and Le Style Child. With over 300 fans and 4000 plus karma in Lookbook.nu, Rachel is certainly enjoying her own way in fashion.

Here are a couple of tips to stand out in the busy streets of New York and crowded world of fashion:

1. Less is more: Do away with the clutter to stand-out.

In the last season, we’ve seen the rise of not only Lady Gaga but also everything that’s reminiscent of her in the fashion industry. Though all things big, chunky, flamboyant and Gaga are oh so exciting, it’s nice to go back to basics once in awhile to let your hair down.

What can say this more that going for an all white outfit like what Rachel wore to the first day of the NYFW. Her soft dress shirt from H&M looked pretty basic but dreamy mainly because of the light fabric used. Topping it off with a white lace coat from Zara continued to give off the relaxed and calm feel that her over all outfit is going for.

BONUS TIP: The best way to pull of pieces in the same color is to make sure that they’re made of different materials. In Rachel’s case, it’s lace and light cloth. Materials that complement or contrast one another will do just fine in making that bold statement.

2. Nothing to worry:

Wearing the right amount of accessories can pull you through. Rachel’s all white outfit could have turned drab easily if not for the pop of color from her accessories and bedazzled footwear. She was able to put in together a nice mix of cream, warm yellow, bright red and brown. All of these colors worked together and accentuated the dominant color in her outfit which is white.

3. Confidence is the key.

Making the cut above the rest is not for everyone. Only a few are able to break free from the scene and stand out – the chosen few who are able to carry themselves win in this battle. Donning on piles and piles of heavy cloth or make-up rarely does the trick. It is still the confidence that you exude from within that can make you look a million bucks even if you’re only wearing a jeans and shirt combo or even a plain white outfit like Rachel.

Don’t be afraid to let your hair down in a simple outfit. Flaunt your style with confidence and a little help from accessories and a bevy of textures. Fashion is not what you wear, but how you wear it.

Celebrities With Their Own Jewelry Line

Just because a celebrity is a celebrity now doesn’t mean they will be making millions of dollars every year from then on. In fact, every celebrity has their own “expiry date” or at least the day when producers won’t be asking them to make movies anymore. So instead of relying on savings, several celebrities decide to use their fame to release their own business – or most commonly, their own jewelry line. Several of today’s most famous, talented actresses have their own jewelry lines and stores to ensure that even after many years, they’d still be making money. Here are some of the smartest, talented women of today’s Hollywood:
angelina jolie jewelry

Angelina Jolie

Who wouldn’t buy a piece of jewelry designed with the beautiful actress as an inspiration right? Just bearing the name Jolie is like saying the piece of jewelry is worth millions – okay, so it probably is, anyway. After recently releasing her line with designer Robert Procop, surely many people would love to wear one of her pieces. For those who want to sell her items would also have to think of an elegant jewelry display to match the name too.
paris hilton watch

Paris Hilton

Although I’m not sure if we can call her an actress, but this heiress is one smart businesswoman. With a lot of businesses on the side, this pretty lady also has a jewelry line of her own. Ms. Hilton designs a wide variety of jewelry pieces that even includes Swarovski crystals. Even if she doesn’t hold any Grammy awards nor has starred in any internationally claimed movie, there’s no one in high society who would think twice about wearing her pieces.

kate hudson

Kate Hudson

Once upon a time, she was like today’s Kristen Stewart – minus the cheating, of course. But today, Kate Hudson shouldn’t be looked over, especially when it comes to business. Still as gorgeous as before, only with less movie offers unfortunately, Ms. Hudson produces Chrome Hearts (CH+KH), her own jewelry line that focuses mainly on Aquamarine pieces, diamonds and freshwater pearls. Now that sounds like an expensive, but very intriguing line.

Not to be outdone by her former frenemy, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie also has something to offer when it comes to jewelry. As the creator of House of Harlow, her jewelry pieces consist mostly of pyramid cocktail rings, stud earrings, pendant necklaces, bangles and much, much more. Unlike her frenemy, Richie hasn’t been in the movie industry as much. Instead, the famous socialite is known mostly for her non-friendship with Paris Hilton, her partying, her smart business ventures and of course, as the daughter of Lionel Richie.

Besides talent, celebrities also have to think of their future. Otherwise, they might just end up on the wrong side of their life – all over again. Oh by the way, you might want to check Vintage Fashion Jewelry.

How to Choose the Type of Jewelry Display for your Booth

Whenever I decide to sell at bazaars and set up my booth, I have to consider a lot of things. You see, when it comes to setting up booths at various sales and market displays, it’s not just the budget and the fancy market that I have to consider. Sometimes, during these events, it’s all about the type of jewelry and the attractive jewelry display that I have to consider.

When I set up a booth, I make sure that they don’t look the same – even if the booths are in two different events. I like having to consider other factors in order to choose the type of display my jewelry would most likely stand out in.

First of all, I think the season is an important factor to consider in designing my theme for my jewelry. If I set up a booth during the summer, it will definitely look much different than the one I set up during winter. The colors I choose for my booth are also different, especially because summer colors are usually trendy and chic during the summer days, but when it comes to winter, simple and elegant colors are more in tune. Sometimes, even the jewelry I sell differs, according to the season.

For example, if it’s summer, I only choose jewelry displays that will help my summer-y jewelry stand out among the rest.

Second, sale fairs happen in various locations around town. Sometimes, I even cross county just to sell at another town. In this case, I always consider the weather and my booth’s location. It’s definitely a wrong choice to set up a summer theme if the weather in the booth’s location is kind of rainy. Not only will my booth’s display look out of place, it may just defeat my purpose of standing out. If the weather is rainy, I want to give my customers a reason to wear the jewelry despite the rain. Thus, in these cases, I need to find a theme that will look nice for the weather and the booth’s location.

Third, the latest trends also affect the type of display for my jewelry. For example, now that the Dark Knight has been released, I might set up my gothic booth to look like a set from Dark Knight. Not only will my booth look interesting with its jewelry, I might also be able to attract Dark Knight Fans.

What about you? How do you choose the type of jewelry display for your booths?

Summer 2012 Trends-Beach, Party, Fashion

Summer 2012 Trends|Beach

It's summer, that warm breeze, the oceans water sparkling, showing the reflection of a bright and sunny sky. People are everywhere, you'll see kids making sand castles, different couples walking hand by hand on that white sand beaches, while some are trying to get a nice tan. Whew what a relaxing feeling.

Hmm, but i wonder if you are ready for the beach? Have you seen the latest fashion trends for a beach vacation? Well, fret not because I am here to give you a sneak peak of what Summer 2012 Trends are going to offer.

Well, let's start with your attire. Of course its a beach so you badly need a swim suit. You don't need to spend much with this as the Swimsuit Trends for 2012's Summer is going back the 80's, yep, frills, polka dots, retro styles and prints.

Swimsuit 2012 Trends|Printed Boy Leg Style

If you are going to stroll around, a nice printed bikini is a great option, or a boy leg style one, perhaps all you need is to have a wrap around summer dress, a sarong or better yet a nice fashion jewelry to accentuate your getup.

Swimwear 2012 Trends|High Waist

If you are not comfortable strongly around in your bikinis, a nice flowing sundress is a very very nice idea, I usually wear my swim wear underneath just in case I decided to take a dip.

Summer Trends 2012| Sundress

Another option is a short summer dress. Although if its a night out, i highly recommend using the longer type of summer dress or better yet, just bring a shawl, yes its summer but the breeze at night is still cold.

Summer Trends 2012| Mini Sundress

Hope you like it. A piece of advice, whatever you wear is not important, whats more important is how you can handle the clothes you are wearing, it doesn't necessarily mean that because there is a new trend you need to go buy when you can just add some spice to your old clothes or wear some pieces of your fashion jewelry, be confident because you are you.
